How do I know what symptoms are menopause related?

It took me years to get the help I needed for my perimenopausal symptoms because I had no idea there was more to it than hot flushes!

I have never had a hot flush but had developed migraines that occurred each month just before my period. I was so tired but thought it was just an accumulation of running a business, having young children, and managing a home. My husband was getting on my nerves more than usual, and I was snapping at the kids and people close about things that usually never bothered me. None of this at any stage red-flagged me into thinking I was experiencing perimenopausal symptoms; in fact, I didn’t even know the term perimenopause!

Suppose only there had been a checklist for me to sit down quietly and reflect on what was happening. I would have made the link that all these separate symptoms were linked to my fluctuating hormones. Instead of treating my migraines and fatigue only, I would have spoken with my doctor to look at what hormone therapy I could explore to treat my menopause symptoms.

Your Menopause has developed a checklist you can download, complete, and discuss with your health professional to start the conversation.

This checklist helps to see the big picture and make the link to perimenopause/menopause symptoms. Keep it with you and revisit it often as perimenopause and menopause symptoms change. There are all ways treatment options available; you do not have to suffer through.
